DESCRIPTION:This September Animal Rebellion will be nonviolently stopping the supply of dairy across the UK with 500 people over a 1-2 week period\, cutting off the supply of milk to supermarkets and causing unignorable high-level disruption which will be felt by tens of million of people across the UK. \n\n\n\nBy causing this disruption day after day we will transform public opinion and pressure the government to act.  \n\n\n\nWe must take this action because billions of animals are dying in the dairy industry and other animal farming and fishing industries. We must take this action because we are in a climate and nature emergency and what we do in the next 2-3 years will determine the future of humanity.  \n\n\n\nThe science us that transitioning to a plant-based future and rewilding the freed-up land is the key solution to the climate and nature emergencies. We can bring back wildlife and drawdown enough carbon from the atmosphere to make the UK net negative in emissions. This will buy us the critical time we need to make other transformative changes and prevent environmental catastrophe. DESCRIPTION:Dr Camila Perussello is a food scientist\, vegan and author based in Dublin\, Ireland. A former researcher at the Irish Food and Agriculture Development Authority and the Technological University Dublin\, she now consults for the food industry helping companies transition away from animal use. Dr Perussello has published dozens of academic papers and book chapters on food engineering and agricultural science. She is also the author of Food for Thought\, a science-based book on the intersection of food production\, animal rights\, and a wide range of humanist issues. For more details about her work\, please visit www.camilaperussello.com. \n\n\n\nDr Perussello will deliver her prevention “Animal welfare: for the animals or profit?” followed by a Q&A. \n\n\n\nThroughout decades\, the animal exploitation industry has been gradually implementing animal welfare measures mainly as a response to public pressure. To many\, “humane” slaughter techniques\, cage enrichment in egg farms and the ban on sow stalls might seem like important achievements in terms of how we treat nonhuman animals. However\, most of us fail to realise that the objective of animal farming is deriving money from animals. In this presentation\, Dr. Camila Perussello will discuss how the animal welfare narrative not only masks the inherent suffering involved in animal use\, but can also leverage the revenue of the animal industry by increasing productivity and improving brand reputation. DESCRIPTION: JOIN US!  \n\n\n\nOn the 4th of June we will be uniting with the Plant Based Treaty and the Extinction Rebellion samba band to raise awareness of the need for a plant based food system while promoting our return to the environmental activism scene.  \n\n\n\nCome join us outside Barclay’s bank in the centre of Broadmead at 10:30am. The more people we can unite\, the greater impact we will be able to have. Our action will be a low level protest and outreach event. Our aim is for this event to be inclusive and enjoyable\, uniting anyone interested in seeing a change in our food system that is fairer\, healthier and more sustainable. This change is crucial if we are to stand a chance of stopping climate change and restoring balance on our beautiful planet! \n\n\n\nNot much is required to get involved\, just helping us get numbers up by being there and holding a banner would be hugely appreciated! It should be a fun event and a great opportunity to meet like-minded people
