8 Protestors Found ‘Not Guilty’ after Blockading the UK’s Largest Dairy Facility

On the 31st of August, 2021, Animal Rebellion blockaded an Arla factory in Aylesbury responsible for processing 10% of the UK’s dairy1.  The climate and animal justice group claim that they occupied the road outside the site for 18 hours because the dairy industry is fuelling our climate and ecological crises.  Today, 8 of those arrested and charged with obstruction of a public highway were acquitted at High Wycombe Magistrate’s Court. The verdict comes just days after England saw a record-breaking heatwave and wildfires.  Kat, one of those acquitted, said: “Today’s verdict shows that judges are waking up to the urgency of our climate and animal emergencies. Without immediate action, we will see more extreme weather events, crop failures, and[…]

Crown Prosecution Service Drop All Charges Against Animal Freedom Movement Beagle Rescuers- Claiming “Lack of Evidence”

On 20/6/22 Ben Newman, Dan Kidby, and Beau King Houston liberated 5 beagle puppies from MBR Acres, before turning themselves in and demanding a jury trial for animal testing [1] Alongside 9 others, who were wrongly accused, they were due to attend a plea hearing for charges of burglary at Peterborough Crown Court on 19/7/22 Instead of giving the British public the chance to reject animal testing in court, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Marshall BioRescources (MBR) have chosen to, gutlessly, back down due to “lack of evidence”. On 11/7/22 Animal Freedom Movement (AFM) released a video of 3 of the dogs shortly after liberation, showing that there is no shortage of “evidence” the CPS claims. On 8/7/22 Birds[…]

Animal Freedom Movement Supporters Liberate 5 Beagle Puppies in a Second Day of Action Against MBR Acres Beagle Farm

In the early hours of this morning, Animal Freedom Movement (AFM) occupied the Marshall BioResources’ (MBR) puppy farm in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, for the second day in a row. The group, a project supported by Animal Rebellion, successfully liberated 5 beagles, who otherwise would have likely been used and eventually killed in animal testing experiments. The Animal Freedom Movement first took action yesterday against MBR Acres in a mass trespass, demanding that MBR shut down the facility and rehome the dogs. They also called on the British government to commit to phasing out all animal testing and sale of animal-tested products by 2025. Dr Lindsay Marshall, biomedical science advisor to the Humane Society International UK, has recently stated “The UK cannot expect to[…]

Animal Rebellion plans to cause “Large scale material disruption to the supply of dairy”

Direct action group Animal Rebellion, who earlier this summer disrupted the Queen’s Jubilee [1] and Epsom Derby [2], have released a launch video for their new campaign.  Hundreds of people from across the UK have now pledged to take nonviolent direct action this September. In the video, the group outline their demands for a transition to a plant-based future where workers are supported to move away from the “destructive industries” of meat, dairy, and fishing. They call for the land freed up by such a shift to be devoted to rewilding in order to draw-down carbon from the atmosphere and restore biodiversity.  The group is targeting dairy as a key contributor to the climate and ecological emergencies: promising to cause[…]

Protestors Disrupt Epsom Derby In A Call For An End To Animal Exploitation

At approximately 4:25 pm 6 women, protestors from the group Animal Rebellion, entered the course at  Epsom with sashes reading “Animal Justice”. They do so on the 109th anniversary of the suffragette Emily Wilding Davison throwing herself in front of a horse at the same course. Animal Rebellion is demanding an end to horse racing, all forms of animal exploitation, and instead a transition towards a plant-based food system and animal justice. Protestors from Animal Rebellion stormed the Epsom Derby to disrupt the race and urge for an end to animal abuse and, instead, a transition to a fair and compassionate plant-based future. This comes just 2 days after the group disrupted the Platinum Jubilee in an effort for Royal land[…]

Animal Rebellion Disrupts Platinum Jubilee To Demand A Plant-Based Future And Rewilding Of Royal Land

25 supporters of Animal Rebellion have disrupted the ‘Trooping The Colour’ event as the Queen’s procession made its way towards Buckingham Palace. They are doing so due to the Crown’s inaction on the climate emergency and their continued support for meat, fishing, and dairy, a leading contributor to climate breakdown [1]. The Crown is one of the largest landholders in The UK [2] and has had decades to transition to plant-based farming and rewilding but has chosen not to. During the opening of the Platinum Jubilee weekend, Animal Rebellion disrupted the royal procession on Pall Mall. This comes after the group dyed the Buckingham Palace fountains red last August [3]. The group are urging for an immediate transition to a plant-based future and rewilding.[…]

Dairy: An Industry Built on Destruction

No doubt about it, April was a hard month for most of us. With the cost of living crisis pricing people out of existence, the war in Ukraine causing untold suffering as well as contributing to food crises across the world and extreme weather ‘testing the limits of human survivability’ in India and Pakistan, it’s already feeling like 2022 is going to be a year of struggle and hardship. Amidst all of this, there’s one thing that is probably far from most people’s minds right now,  but which is shaping up to be a power play between big business and the consumer which has the potential to reshape our entire food system. That thing is, the price of milk.  While[…]

An Animal Rebellion delegation that included two ex-RSPCA trustees has met with the RSPCA to press the charity to back a fair transition to a plant-based food system for animals and the planet. The meeting was with senior RSPCA officers at the charity’s head office in Southwater, West Sussex.  The Animal Rebellion team comprised former vice-chair of the National RSPCA, former board member of RSPCA Assured and former branch trustee, Jane Tredgett; former RSPCA branch trustee, Martin Whybrow; and Animal Rebellion spokesperson, Harley McDonald-Eckersall.  Animal Rebellion is pressing for the UK’s oldest and largest animal welfare organisation to officially come out in support of transitioning to a plant-based system.  Jane Tredgett said: “There are so many reasons for the RSPCA to help the[…]

“Factory Farming is Fuelled by Oil”, say Environmental Campaigners

Campaigners from the Scrap Factory Farming campaign and direct action organisation Animal Rebellion staged a demonstration outside the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in London today (Thursday, 14/04/2022) to highlight the link between factory farming and oil. Prop barrels of oil were placed in front of the building with a plant-based oil-like substance seen leaking from them. Cow hoofprints and chicken footprints were seen in the oil leading from the front of the building to the staff entrance. Protestors stood outside were handing out fliers and holding placards with slogans like “Defund Oil. Scrap Factory Farming”. A spokesperson for the action, Robert Gordon, said: “Factory farming is fuelled by oil. A huge amount of land and oil-based fertilisers[…]

Plant-Based Universities campaigners drop banners on 3 London universities highlighting climate crisis

Students from 3 prestigious universities have unfurled large banners and let off non-toxic smoke flares at key university locations in order to confront their institutions on their cafes and restaurant’s impacts on the climate. The students say they plan to remain in place for one hour before peacefully dispersing. Sofia Carolina Fernandes Pontes, 25, student at London Metropolitan has said “It’s simple, universities have to act on the climate crisis and that begins with their menus. We know that industries like meat, fish, and dairy are driving climate collapse, deforestation, and ocean dead zones. This is all whilst we produce enough to feed ten billion people, yet have hundreds of millions starving all over the world because of our woefully[…]
