Hundreds of supporters of Animal Rebellion are taking nonviolent direct action against the dairy industry and British Government this September. Amongst them are doctors, nurses, vets, parents; they’re all united by one thing, they know we urgently and immediately need a plant-based future.
Together, Animal Rebellion has two demands:
1) Government supports farmers and fishing communities to move away from animal farming and fishing as part of an urgent and immediate transition to a plant-based food system.
2) Government commits to rewild the freed-up land and ocean as part of a broader programme of wildlife restoration and carbon drawdown.
They are simple and imminently achievable. Even more so, they are backed up by world-leading climate scientists from the likes of Oxford and Harvard Universities.
Already, farmers across the UK have been in a cost-of-living crisis for years, with 25% of dairy farmers looking to leave the industry. Now is the time to support them in a profitable and just transition to plant-based production. This will not only relieve the pressure on farmers, but save millions of animals from slaughter each year in the UK. This is all whilst freeing up land to return to nature and carbon drawdown!
Now is the time for a hopeful future. Now is time for a world where humans and nonhumans live in a beautiful world filled with life, not death.
