Protestors block London’s last slaughterhouse to demand community gardens

Animal Rebellion campaigners are calling for an end to the last slaughterhouse in London in a protest against climate change and animal suffering. Early this morning, Gardens Not Slaughterhouses campaigners blocked the trucks coming out of the Kedassia chicken slaughterhouse in East London, disrupting its operations. The protestors have climbed an empty truck, preventing it from leaving. Those involved said that they waited for the chickens to be taken inside before blockading the entrance so as to not prolong their suffering, but are now disrupting the operations of Kedassia slaughterhouse. Animal Rebellion paints the Marine Stewardship Council red to demand the end of fishing

Four people have sprayed the headquarters of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) blood red, to call on the organisation to stop certifying the fishing industry and support a just transition to sustainable industries. Protestors from the non-violent direct action group Animal Rebellion used modified fire extinguishers to spray the building red, before sitting down in the paint holding placards reading Protect the Seas – End Fishing and MSC – Stop Certifying Destruction. Students nationwide launch 100% plant-based universities campaign for sustainability

Students at over twenty universities across the UK are demanding 100% plant-based on-campus catering by the 2023-24 academic year, to ensure a sustainable future. Animal Agriculture contributes 18-23% of all greenhouse gas emissions and is the leading cause of deforestation1, says the UN2. Groups of students at over twenty UK universities are calling for a transition to 100% plant-based on-campus catering in a campaign against University complicity in the climate crisis. Animal Rebellion Campaigners Scale DEFFRA In Climate Change Protest Ahead Of COP26

The protesters climbed the building in the early hours of this morning, unveiling a banner that reads “COP26: Invest in a Plant-Based Future”. Animal Rebellion says they intend to remain on the building, suspended in hammocks, until UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson pledges to cut all taxpayer support for animal agriculture and promises to urge all world leaders to do the same when they attend the COP26 summit later this week.
